Thanks Sarah. I'm definitely a Belle and Sebastian fan, especially the awkward early stuff, though I didn't listen to them growing up... my parents weren't that hip. ;)
Having slipped on the copious mud at my allotment ending up covered in thick mud, I can associate with your tough week Jamie. Love both versions of your song, it made me smile despite the mud.
I do sympathise (a bit!) As a listener, if I have a choice between the original songwriter croaking out their words over a battered piano or Rod Stewart crooning them over a full, well-rehearsed orchestra, Rod is not usually getting a look in. (All respect to Rod though.)
This is the post I needed this week (including the song and the smile). Thank you!
Bit Belle & Sebastian even..reckon this has good bones. Smiling.

l liked both versions. The melody felt very fresh and gentle.
I may be weird but I actually prefer the raw first version: it's more honest somehow. But I agree about the B&S.

Thank you for sharing. It's easy to feel disrupted.
Going to listen to the song now xx
