The Valley Press Publishing Process
2024 edition. A successful submission is just the beginning...
As you may already be aware, Valley Press has a submissions window opening in September, details of which will be provided in my next post. Today, I want to discuss what happens after your submission is accepted, by sharing full details of the “production process” I’ll be following to bring 2024 titles to the shelves.
But first, a quick metaphor. In the mid-twentieth century, a fellow named Colonel Sanders started a fried chicken empire with his “secret recipe” of eleven herbs and spices, which is still in use today. (Apologies if this reference made you feel hungry; it did me.) The process below, honed and adjusted on the “front lines” of publishing over the past fifteen years, is my equivalent – which means, after a month of free posts, it’s finally time to deploy the dreaded paywall.
